Hi, I’m Vicky, the writer and photographer behind These Vagabond Shoes. Now in my 40s, I’ve been travelling independently since I was a teenager, and participating in various outdoor activities long before that. I’m mad about the mountains, deeply passionate about the ocean, inspired by everyday adventures, and love sharing stories with others.

These Vagabond Shoes is a small but growing blog, and prides itself on its genuine feel and the ability to inspire readers to get out and experience the world. While the majority of the featured experiences, products, and travel destinations are self-funded, I’m open to partnership, sponsorship, and affiliate opportunities that fit with the ethos of the blog, and will be of value to my readers.
I am also open to press trips that will be of interest to readers of These Vagabond Shoes, and match with my travelling style.
Why work with me
I mainly work in conservation, where I specialise in developing interpretation and resources to educate and inspire people about the natural world. Between seasons I’m an adventurer and traveller. I’ve climbed mountains, trekked through wild places, sailed over oceans, and sat round campfires to tell tales and share stories.
These Vagabond Shoes has been around in various incarnations since 2014, and I’m also a freelance copywriter with several years experience creating content. My work has been featured online and in print. I write about the outdoors, adventure lifestyle, sailing, overland travel, cultural experiences, volunteering, and personal misadventures.
I aim to inspire others to try new experiences, whether that’s half the world away or just around the next corner, a once-in-a-lifetime adventure or something to fit around the everyday 9 to 5.
I can offer a compelling voice and beautiful photography, bringing to life the places I visit, products I use, or experiences I have. I can also give exposure on social media, from live tweets at an event, promotion on Instagram and Facebook, and social media takeovers.
