The theme of this week’s challenge was “The Hue of You“, which I think has been the most demanding challenge I’ve participated in to date. The aim is to share a photograph in which the predominant colour or colours reveals something about yourself, which prompted me to research a little about the perceptions associated with my favourite colour: blue.
Blue is considered to be the colour of tranquility and calmness, of consciousness and intellect. Throughout history blue has always had an association with the divine, and with innocence and goodness. On the other hand, in the English language blue is also associated with sadness, in German with naivety, and many cultures, particularly in the Far East, associate the colour with death or mouring.
To me, the colour blue means the ocean and the sky, the ice of Jökulsárlón, of the haze in the distance, of wide open spaces and the far away. Of constant presence, with the flux and flow of continual change; of eternity.
